Counselling is about listening and working together to seek to understand the reasons you feel therapy would help you at this time. It can be described as a journey that we embark upon together. Through being truly listened to and being able to express and explore your thoughts and feeling without judgement is a powerful thing. It can feel very different, as many of us experience our friends and family having opinions on us and our decisions. They like to offer advice! What Benefits can be Expected?
Counselling is not a 'Magic Wand'. You get out what you put in! It can go at the pace that you are comfortable with. My own experience of counselling, as well as my experience professionally, is that clients come away with a clearer understanding of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. There is an opportunity to learn new techniques to deal with issues such as anxiety and negative thinking. Some clients express that simply offloading thoughts and feelings is enough. Every individual is unique and we can talk about your goals and the focus of your counselling during our initial session. This is about you!
